Published on: 8th July 2022   |   By: Christina Pantelly   |   Category: Uncategorized

Following a campaign by Chalfont St Giles residents for improved bus services in the village, a new bus route has been confirmed.

Carousel Buses announced that a new bus route will go live on July 27. The new routes on buses 106 and 107 will connect Chalfont St Giles with Little Chalfont, Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross, Amersham, Chesham and Slough.

Resident Vicky Winter started the campaign to call for a more regular service, with a route linking Chalfont St Giles and Chalfont St Peter to Little Chalfont, and received support from Buckinghamshire county councillor Simon Rouse as well as hundreds of other residents.

Speaking to CHALFONT&GERRARDSCROSSnews, cllr Rouse said: “I’m absolutely oVer the moon that our community campaign has been successful. I’ve

been delighted to support residents in getting this approved, and thanks to Carousel for responding so positively to the idea.”

Luke Marion, interim managing director at Carousel

Buses, said: ” We have worked closely with local councillors and residents to make improvements to our services 106 and 107 in order to provide new links from The Chalfonts to Little Chalfont, which was something the community told us they wanted to see. We look forward to welcoming residents onto this improved service and to it hopefully becoming a sustainable and long-term part of the bus network.”

Councillor Steven Broadbent, Buckinghamshire Council’s cabinet member for transport, said: “As a council, we very much welcome the introduction of new bus routes in Buckinghamshire and this will provide an important service for residents in The Chalfonts area. It’s testament to the tireless work of the local community and local councillors who have campaigned for this service, alongside the council’s own public transport team who have worked hard to help broker arrangements for the new service.”
