BUMPS AND BABIES: Unique mums’ group approaching one-year anniversary

Published on: 13th March 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

In April 2019, Hannah Simons, The Bushey Midwife, launched Bushey Bumps and Babies alongside Chloe Lewis who is a local hypnobirthing practitioner.

This is a fortnightly coffee morning where expectant and new mums from the local area can get together to connect and feel supported and encouraged.

Speaking to BusheyNews, Hannah said: “We didn’t know how popular Bushey Bumps and Babies would be but the success we have seen over its first year far exceeded our expectations.

“We have loved watching the transition from bumps to babies and have enjoyed seeing how they grow, develop and evolve over the weeks and months.”

“There is such a strong focus on mental health in the media now and this includes maternal mental health.

“We are providing them an opportunity to share their experiences, hopes and fears, whilst reducing isolation during such a joyful, but challenging time in their lives.”

Over the last 12 months, they have run over 15 events and more than 50 women and their babies or bumps have attended.

They meet at various cafés in Bushey Village and the event itself is free to attend.

Hannah continued by looking ahead to the future, she said: “We are very excited for what’s to come for Bushey Bumps and Babies and look forward to continuing to provide a great social network and support system for local women who are entering such a crucial and pivotal time in their lives.

“We are inviting those who have previously attended and also those more recent to join us at some point in April, where of course, there’ll be cake.”
