A Bushey primary school has opened its new sensory room, thanks to a grant from a charity and funds raised by the parent teacher association.
Hartsbourne Primary School has recently completed the sensory room to support the mental health and wellbeing of pupils. The project was made possible through a generous £3,000 grant from the Shanly Foundation, along with an additional £1,000 raised by the Friends of Hartsbourne.
The sensory room is a welcoming space where children can feel safe and free to express anything that is bothering them. It is used by all children, providing a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of the school day.
Headteacher Danni Harte said: “We recognised the need for a sensory room as supporting children with their mental health goes hand-in-hand with academic achievement. We have seen an incredible impact since having our sensory room.
“We are so excited to see our vision brought to life, and would like to thank both the Shanly Foundation and the Friends of Hartsbourne.”
