Watford Conservatives have nominated Binita Mehta-Parmar as Mayoral Candidate for 2022.
Binita has lived in the town since birth, attended Watford Girls Grammar School and her family run a community pharmacy business across the town.
She has served as a Watford Borough Councillor and engaged in voluntary service throughout the area.
Binita said: “As a lifelong resident, I truly understand and relate to the issues people in this town face. We all share the same experiences and I think it’s important people have a say in our town and how it’s run. I am passionate about the vast potential of our community.
“I am deeply honoured by the nomination to be Mayoral Candidate for my hometown in next year’s election. I want to see a Watford in which the Mayor and Council take responsibility for their actions, and who run our local government in a way that respects Watford’s historic character as a Hertfordshire market town, but builds and works for a future that sees the flourishing of all its residents.
“I want to work closely with all our elected representatives to achieve this, including our MP Dean Russell, Hertfordshire County Council, and our Police and Crime Commissioner David Lloyd. That’s the vision I will be fighting for in next year’s elections, and I call on everyone in our town to support me in realising it.”
Dean Russell MP for Watford said: “Binita is truly passionate about Watford. She is dedicated to the town and has been actively involved across the community for many years. She understands the needs of local people and businesses. Binita’s energetic approach combined with a strong sense of civic purpose means she is a powerful champion for our town.”
Watford’s mayor is elected every four years. The next scheduled mayoral election will be on May 5, 2022. The current mayor, Liberal Democrat Peter Taylor, was elected in May 2018.
