SNOWDROP DONORS: Bulbs planted as Berkhamsted charity marks Baby Loss Awareness Week

A Berkhamsted charity recently invited bereaved mums to plant a heart shape of snowdrop bulbs.

The Human Milk Foundation (HMF) invited their Snowdrop Donors to plant the bulbs at the Hearts Milk Bank at Gossom End Health Centre. The event was held to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week from October 9 to 15.

The charity’s Snowdrop Donors are parents who have donated human milk for other babies after their own babies sadly passed away.

HMF spokesperson Flic Webster said: “There is no footprint too small to leave an imprint on this world, and the gift of donor milk can help save lives.

“When [the snowdrop bulbs] bloom in January, and as they grow over the years, we will always be reminded of the incredible act of kindness of our Snowdrop Donors in donating their milk, even while coping with the greatest pain, to help other families.”

The charity also lit a candle on Tuesday, October 15, for the Global Wave of Light, in memory of all babies who have passed away and in support of all families affected by pregnancy loss and baby loss.
