Two public tennis courts in Tring are set to be renovated after being awarded £50,000.
The courts at Pound Meadow will be transformed thanks to a partnership between Dacorum Borough Council (DBC) and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
Work on the courts is expected to start in early 2025 with the aim of being completed by late spring.
Tring Tennis Club will work with DBC and LTA to manage the courts and will aim to open up the sport to more residents across the town and surrounding areas.
A range of activities will take place at the revamped Pound Meadows. This will include weekly organised Barclays Free Park Tennis sessions for all ages, playing levels and experience where equipment is provided, meaning that people will not need someone to play with or their own racket.
Councillor Adrian England, Leader of DBC, said: “We welcome this investment which will improve people’s experience on our outdoor tennis courts.
“Once the courts have been refurbished, various sessions, activities and events will be held to give everybody the chance to learn and practice tennis and make the most out of our open spaces.”
