Young leaders, guides, brownies and adult leaders from Girlguiding Radlett District (GRD) took a trip to the lakes in Lee Valley to earn their Mayday badges.
On the trip, between Friday, September 20 and Sunday, September 22, they learned how to build and race rafts, navigated canoes and kayaks, tried paddleboarding and super sups, jumped from the pontoon and raced dragon boats.
Whilst storms appeared to be threatening the surrounding skies, the girls enjoyed sunshine and warm(ish) waters whilst learning all about water safety and recognising 200 valuable years of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
District leader Nicola Day said the group were grateful to the “amazing” instructors at the Enfield Scout Sailing Association, who gave the girls “such a memorable experience”.
Some of the team also went to support the Shenley Park Trust at their Apple Day event on Sunday, October 20.
The group has some spaces for girls aged seven and above to join some our brownie, guide and ranger units.
