Plans to create a new health campus in Hemel Hempstead have taken a step forward, with a new team being recruited to lead the proposed development.
Dacorum Borough Council (DBC), Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB), and West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust have joined forces to explore opportunities for a new health campus hub. This would bring together hospital, GP and community health services in a new facility.
A programme director is currently being recruited to drive the development, which will aim to support residents through an integrated model and work to support the community in a more holistic way.
Advisors have now been appointed to write a strategic outline case, before a public engagement process begins in the spring.
Dr Jane Halpin, chief executive of NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB, said: “We’re committed to keeping the needs of patients and local people at the centre of our plans and we will be seeking local views as we develop and refine proposals.”
