A seven-year-old girl from Garston is donating her long curly hair to charity which makes wigs for children with cancer, after she found out children also suffer from the disease. On Thursday, May 26 celebrity hairdresser and BBC One Show The Street Barber Michael Douglas will cut off Kushi Kotecha’s beautiful long curly hair, to raise awareness and funds for the Little Princess Trust. Kushi found out children could get a bug called cancer and lose their hair like her auntie, she felt sad and wanted to do something to help. Now she is going to join ranks with Harry Styles and Jessie J who have donated their locks to the Little Princess Trust. She added: “my auntie Jasma who came to have dinner with us has a bug called cancer. She looked different because she lost all her lovely long hair. She was smiling and happy when she came but I felt sad inside. When I asked if children get cancer, my mummy said yes. I asked mummy if I could do something to help and so we found the Little Princess Trust.” Kushi, who attends Killigrew Primary school in St Albans, has already raised enough money to cover the cost of three wigs for children with cancer. Kushi added: “By doing this simple thing, a child out there who has cancer may use that hair. It’s simple really. Please can you donate a little something in support, thank you.” Monica Glass, charity manager at the Little Princess Trust, added: “We are so grateful to Kushi for donating her hair and for raising such an incredible amount too! As well as money from generous supporters, we also accept donations of hair – the longer the better please.” Go to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kushi-kotecha to donate funds Picture courtesy of Michelle Wiggett
