A man has been given a suspended sentence after he touched a 13-year-old girl’s breasts in Hemel Hempstead.
Conor Kavanagh, 26, of Watling Avenue, Edgware, molested the girl under the guise of a play fight at an address in Hemel Hempstead.
Kavanagh appeared at Luton Crown Court on October 26 and was convicted by a jury of sexual communication with a child and sexual activity with a child.
He has been handed a nine-month prison sentence suspended for two years. He must complete 150 hours of unpaid work and attend 40 rehabilitation days.
The judge also made a restraining order banning Kavanagh from contacting the victim. Kavanagh must abide by the terms of a sexual harm prevention order and register as a sex offender for 10 years. In addition, he must pay £3,500 costs.
The court heard the girl’s mother discovered Kavanagh had sent an image of himself wearing nothing but boxer shorts in October 2019.
In November 2019, he was sitting on a sofa next to the girl when he put his hand on her breast over her clothing during the play fight.
In the victim’s personal statement, the teenager said: “What happened really affected me. It just hits me, and I become upset, and I start crying.”
Defending, Claire Robinson said Kavanagh was of good character. Since the date of the assault on November 4, 2019, there has been no further offending.
