A mobility charity is celebrating supporting its 10,000th user.
Shopmobility Watford is a local charity which loans wheelchairs and scooters to anyone with a mobility problem, whether permanent or temporary, through accident, illness or age. The charity’s aim is to support residents to be independent.
Speaking to WATFORDnews, manager Susan said: “We are growing, and we have people of all ages coming to us. Some people say they are reluctant to use our equipment, but it enables them to go shopping and meet their friends. It makes a big difference to these people’s lives.”
The team is now celebrating supporting 10,000 users, from loaning equipment for free to just being there for a chat.
Susan added: “We’re like a community or family. People come and talk to us about what’s going on, they have a cup of tea and a biscuit, and we encourage anyone who needs us to come and visit.”
