A group of stroke survivors have completed a sponsored swim to raise funds and awareness of the condition.
Swimming After a Stroke, a group based at South Oxhey Leisure Centre, has provided water therapy exercises for individuals who have suffered a stroke since 2011.
On Tuesday, March 26, the group’s members completed a swim totalling 1.5 miles and raised nearly £500 in aid of the Stroke Association.
Scott, 53, who suffered a stroke on Boxing Day 2022, swam 83 widths during the event.
He said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the event, and it was great to be able to swim and compete against my fellow group members while raising donations.”
Haylley Pittam, who led the event, said: “I am beyond proud of the group; they supported each other, were competitive with each other, and pushed themselves to reach their personal bests in aid of a fantastic cause.”
All Watford residents who have survived a stroke are eligible for Swimming After a Stroke sessions. To find out more, visit www.everyoneactive.com/enquiries or get in touch via email at SouthOxheyInfo@everyoneactive.com
