A new chapter has begun for the Pinner and Eastcote book hub this summer after they were gifted new bookshelves by a generous local man.
Miriam Gordon-Linton, who runs the hub, was approached by Jay in June asking if there was anything he could do to support the book hub as he wanted to give back to Miriam for all her hard work over the years.
Subsequently, Jay and a team of carpenters spent most of July building five new bookshelves, as well as applying waterproof varnish, for the hub.
The donation was made in memory of Jay’s late father who was a huge supporter of literature and instilled a great passion for books in him.
Speaking to PinnerNews, Miriam said: “I am very humbled and touched by the kindness and generosity shown.
“It just shows that when you give out goodness, you get it back.”
Jay aims to do one act of kindness in the community each day, he told PinnerNews he was inspired to help Miriam’s book hub after driving past it everyday on his way to work. He noticed the book hub had no weather protection and wanted to protect such an important community hub.
