Two men from Radlett and Watford have been jailed today, Friday, March 17, for a combined 17 years and three months at St Albans Crown Court, following the seizure of more than half a million pounds’ worth of drugs at a caravan site in Bedmond.
Andrew Kenney, 30, was tasered and arrested after pulling up at the caravan site when he attempted to flee. Undercover officers had been watching him when he had arrived at the address of co-defendant Steven Fabray, 38, earlier in the day.
Prosecutor David Dainty said officers watched Kenney wheel a black suitcase out of the house and place it in his friends car, which he then drove to the Newlands Park Caravan Site.
Fabray was arrested at his home where cocaine and cutting agents were found.
Kenney, of Battlers Green Drive, Radlett, was convicted by a jury of two charges of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Fabray, of Briar Road, Watford, pleaded guilty to the two charges.
Kenney appeared for sentence via a video link from Wormwoods Scrubs prison. Fabray was on a link from Bedford prison.
Defending Kenney, Tania Panagiotpoulou said there was no evidence it was his operation.
She said: “He was still living in his parents’ council flat. There was no evidence of a lavish lifestyle. There is no evidence of him buying or selling drugs. He was a trusted lieutenant.”
She added that both Kenney and Fabray had been subjected to threats by others in the drugs chain after Fabray had made a mistake.
Matheos Lefteris, for Fabray, said he had a drug debt that had “spiralled out of control”, and that he had been a “paid hand” in the operation.
Recorder Caroline Overton sentenced Kenney to 12 years and Fabray to 5 years 3 months. She told them: “Class A drugs destroy lives and spread misery in society.”
Good riddance to scum.
