Police swarmed a canal boat in Croxley yesterday, Thursday, March 16, following reports of a man possessing a firearm described as a shotgun.
Officers from the firearms response team, the dog unit, as well as a police helicopter responded to the incident just before 6pm. A man was arrested on the scene on suspicion of possession of a firearm, as well as for possession of a banned breed of dog.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: “Police were called just before 6pm yesterday (Thursday, March 16) to reports of an in incident in Byewaters, Croxley Green.
“It was reported that a man on a canal boat had been seen in possession of a firearm, which was described as a shotgun.
“Officers attended immediately, alongside specially trained firearms response officers, the dog unit and a police helicopter.
“A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of a banned breed of dog. He remains in police custody at this time. No weapons were located and the investigation remains ongoing.”
