A man has been jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to two burglaries in Watford.
Jay Wilson, 44, of St Albans Road, Watford, was arrested on Wednesday, September 6, and subsequently charged with two counts of burglary after the two incidents earlier this year.
The first incident took place overnight between Tuesday, August 29, and Wednesday, August 30, when The Creams on The Parade, High Street, was broken into. However, nothing was taken.
The second incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday, August 30, where Menspire, also on the The Parade, was broken into and cash was taken.
Wilson appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday, September 7) where he was sentenced to four months for each offence to run consecutively and ordered to pay £1,560 in compensation.
Watford Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) Inspector Dan Jones said: “Working closely with local businesses, the SNT were able to secure evidence and work with our Local Crime Unit to secure charges after these two businesses were targeted.
“We’re pleased he pleaded guilty to the offences and has now been removed from the streets. We’re committed to ensuring Watford is a safe place and will continue to track down those who commit crime in the town.”
