Students from Kings Langley School hosted a creative fundraising event last month and successfully raised £500 for a local mental health charity.
The Year 12 students hosted an eco-friendly Valentine’s Day Virtual Balloon Race which helped raise awareness for and generate funds for Hertfordshire Minds Network.
The race lasted for seven days and with the help of live weather tracking software entrants were able to track the progress of their balloon throughout the race, with the winning balloon travelling over 100km.
A spokesperson for the school said: “They successfully sold 167 balloons raising an amazing amount of £501 for their charity.
“Huge thank you to all of those who purchased a balloon and the continued support to all our student’s charities.”
The balloon race was part of a wider project being carried out by the students which aims to raise money for the charity increase awareness of mental health.
