Vienna Festival Ballet to perform Cinderella at the Radlett Centre

Vienna Festival Ballet celebrates their 34th anniversary with a UK tour from March to June 2014, with a performance of Cinderella.

                     

The show comes to The Radlett Centre on Sunday, June 1 at 2pm and 5pm.

Vienna Festival Ballet is proud to present their new spring ballet for the 2014 season – the classic tale of Cinderella, one of the best-known rags-to-riches fairy tales of all time. A mistreated young girl, a glass slipper, two comical ugly step-sisters and a handsome prince combine to make the perfect piece of story-telling.

The Company

VFB1Peter Mallek, celebrated Austrian dancer, founded the company after his illustrious career as a dancer of international renown, in 1980. Now in their 34th year of producing quality ballet productions, the company continues to experience remarkable success and perform great classical ballets all over the world. Their productions have all the elegance and extravagance associated with the best of ballet. VFB’s company comprises of talented dancers including graduates from the Royal Ballet School, British, Australian and Italian soloists, and guest stars from Vienna and South Africa.

Chris Nicholls, renowned conductor and musical director for ballet, to rearrange and rewrite the ballet score from a collection of Rossini’s most famous operatic achievements. The music was then recorded especially for the company by the leading orchestra in Kosice, Slovakia, conducted by Nicholls himself.

Sheila Styles, one of the company’s most expert and idiosyncratic choreographers, from the Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet has created through inspiration from the choice of music, and her talent for choreography and staging, a perfect ballet for VFB.

Cinderella is based on the traditional story, the ballet will surely touch and reach out to everyone’s heart, with its combination of pure classical dancing and a touch of pantomime.
