Bad day at the office for Hemel as Wealdstone score three

Published on: 17th August 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Hemel Hempstead Town F.C

A hard game to swallow for Hemel as their up and down form continued with a 3-0 hammering from visitors Wealdstone FC.

Wealdstone put three past the home side and kept a clean sheet in a 90 minute which everyone in the squad will be happy with.

It was a slow opening 15 minutes from both sides until midfielder Michael Phillips scored at the back post to put his side 0-1 up.

A nothing first half with a handful of big chances coming from either side. Wealdstone get a penalty shout waved away by referee just before Hemel start to look threatening down the flanks.

Mendy rattles the Hemel crossbar with a shot from outside the box and Wealdstone’s pressure eventually pays off as they go 0-2 up at half time.

Former Love Islander Dennon Lewis heads the ball home on 44 minutes after good work down the wing from Phillips.

Mendy scored Wealdstone’s third. Green’s free kick was headed goal wards from Lafayette which was saved by the keeper but a lurking Mendy headed home.

Hemel’s next game will be away at Oxford City on Saturday, August 24 and Wealdstone will be playing at home against Hungerford Town.
