BACK TO SCHOOL: Prime Minister visits Ruislip primary school amidst election woes

A Ruislip primary school received a special visit from MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip and current UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, as his party was dealt a difficult blow in the 2022 local elections.

A class of five and six-year-olds at Field End Infant School were joined by the PM for a day of arts and crafts in preparation for the upcoming Platinum Jubilee, even joining in with the schoolchildren by making his own portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

He was also treated to a tour of the school by staff, later meeting with some teachers who are currently taking part in the government’s national tutoring programme, set up to help them help children left behind educationally as a result of the pandemic.

In a statement on his social media pages, Mr Johnson said: “I joined an art class at Field End Infant School in my constituency as they get ready to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

“The teachers are doing a fantastic job to help children recover from the pandemic as part of the National Tutoring Programme.”

The visit came as the governing Conservatives struggled in the local elections, losing control of 10 councils and 338 councillors in England, as well as their lone council in Wales.
