A spectacular illuminated walk has returned to Berkhamsted for the festive season.
Ashridge House has worked with illumination trail designers Luminism to bring the historic gardens of the former royal palace to life.
Once a residence for Tudor monarchs, including King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I, local residents are able to walk the stunning grounds of Ashridge House, serenaded by mesmeric displays of colour and sound.
Until January 2, families, couples and even dog walkers (on Wednesdays) are invited to view the series of enchanting displays.
The gates are open from 4.30pm to 8.30pm, and a free shuttle bus is being offered from Berkhamsted train station to Ashridge and back.
Visitors can grab a warming mulled wine and a bite to eat from a range of street food stalls at the Festive Food and Drinks Village, before or after the trail.
Bakehouse Café and the new Acres Restaurant will be open throughout the festive period and visitors can also book to stay over at Ashridge House.
