What started out as a deeply personal outlet has become a source of inspiration for many, as a Bushey author channels her life experiences into a powerful new book.
Alyson Torns held the launch for her latest book, Reflections: A Window into a Life, on Saturday, September 20. It features a compilation of poetry and artwork created between 2019 and 2023.
Having worked in adult mental health for years, Alyson has long used her creative writing skills as a vehicle to enable herself and others struggling with their mental health to articulate their feelings.
Her latest work continues that mission, offering readers a raw and relatable look into the mind during challenging times.
The book launch was sponsored by Kim Rasit at H’arts in Mind, an inclusive art hub for people with mental or physical health challenges.
Speaking to BUSHEYnews, Alyson shared: “Anyone who struggles with mental health will be able to understand the book. Ultimately, if this book can connect and help one person, that is my goal.”
