A learning centre in Watford is offering unemployed residents the chance to learn new skills to aid them in their job searches.
CTP Learning Centre, on Vicarage Road, is currently working with learners who are over the age of 19, unemployed and in receipt of Universal Credit or Job Seekers Allowance (or equivalent).
CTP Learning Centres are a nationally recognised company delivering flexible learning courses to adult learners to help them achieve their goals in further education and employment.
The centre at Watford is made up of a small, friendly and experienced team who are currently offering the following courses: Construction Skills, Skills for Working in Health and a CV Workshop and Job Club.
The construction course includes training for the health and safety exam, along with the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment test.
Upon successful completion of both tests, individuals will be able to apply for a CSCS Operatives card which is now a standard requirement to work on building and construction sites.
The Skills for Working in Health course supports learners who have an interest in entering the health and care sector to gain a L1 qualification.
All learners will explore the roles and responsibilities of a care worker and be able to select modules including healthy lifestyle essentials, mental health and well-being fundamentals and health and safety in the workplace which will prepare them to enter the health and care sector.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am – 1.30pm, the Watford centre runs a CV workshop for learners who want to explore other avenues of work. Learners then come into the centre every Wednesday to continue to apply for jobs supported by experienced centre staff.
CTP also offers English and Maths qualifications.
