“Prepare for change” is the message from Nash Mills councillor Jan Maddern, who confirmed that a new filter traffic light will be installed at the top of Durrants Hill.
The junction of Lawn Lane and Durrants Hill has long caused problems for drivers, as cars waiting to turn right onto Durrants Hill often block the flow of traffic behind them.
Cllr Maddern shared that she “had a bee in her bonnet” about the issue and, despite previous unsuccessful attempts, decided to start “hounding” Hertfordshire Highways once more.
She shared: “A lovely Highways engineer called Darren met Luke (my fab Highways manager) and me there in June and watched the traffic for half an hour or so. He was really surprised at just how many cars turn right there.”
The pair discussed options on how best to tackle the problem, and cllr Maddern explained that she put forward the idea of introducing a filter light.
On Wednesday, September 10, cllr Maddern received confirmation that the filter light will be installed on Thursday, October 2.
