ANOTHER WIN: 10-man Wealdstone continue their push for promotion with victory over Dorking Wanderers

Table topping Wealdstone put in another great performance today, February 22, as they remain top of the Vanarama National League South.

Goals from Moses Emmanuel and Dennon Lewis (2) meant they defeated Dorking Wanderers 3-1, despite Connor Smith seeing red in the first half.

Wealdstone almost had the perfect start when they put the ball in the net after three minutes, but Emmanuel’s goal was ruled out for offside.

Stones’ Goalkeeper Aston Oxborough kept out McManus’ effort just a minute later when he tipped the ball onto the post.

On the 40th minute, Emmanuel got his goal this time to put Wealdstone ahead.

Moments later, Connor Smith saw red for a bad challenge.

Despite going a man down, Wealdstone continued to attack, and they managed to double their lead on the 44th minute thanks to Dennon Lewis.

Dorking should have narrowed the margin in the 49th minute when Dyett found space in the box, but got his shot horribly wrong and the ball went harmlessly over Stones’ net.

Emmanuel almost got his second of the game when he was on the end of Lewis’ through ball, but his effort went just wide.

On the 74th minute, Dorking made things interesting when Sole hit a beautiful free kick straight into the net to half their deficit.

Dorking were pushing for an equaliser late on, but things got worse for them on the 85th minute when they too had a man sent off, with Harris bringing down Lafayette in the box.

Lewis despatched the penalty perfectly to put the game beyond doubt, and Wealdstone continue their winning run, that now stretches to five games.

Wealdstone are back at home once more during the week as they welcome Chelmsford City on Tuesday night.
