A resident from Chalfont St Peter who is part of an award-winning fundraising group has completed an incredible three-part challenge to raise money for charity.
The Angel Mums are a group of parents who have sadly each lost a child to a brain tumour. Together, they raise awareness and funds for the Tessa Jowell Foundation to find treatment options, fund research and improve survival for those with brain cancer.
Having completed a charity skydive last year, the brave mums decided to go one step further this year and complete an Earth, Wind and Fire Challenge.
Among those taking part was Rebecca Gaskell, whose beloved daughter Grace was diagnosed with a rare inoperable brain tumour at age 12. After two-and-a-half years of treatment, Grace sadly passed away on November 2, 2020.
Speaking about the challenge, Rebecca said: “The coals were not just glowing a little bit; there were flames coming out of them.
“We all did incredibly well, and I am so proud we all came together to complete the challenge. Whatever challenges we do, our children have been through worse. Grace went through far worse than this.”
As reported in the October 2024 edition of CHALFONTS&GERRARDSCROSSnews, the Angel Mums were named JustGiving’s Fundraising Team of the Year for raising a combined total of £240,000.
Rebecca shared the group’s gratitude to those who have donated, adding: “It is down to the generosity of people who helped us do the fundraiser. Donators don’t realise the extensive impact it has.”
Looking ahead to 2025, the Angel Mums are currently planning their next brilliant feat. You can stay up to date with their challenges and donate at www.justgiving.com/page/angelmums2024
