A Radlett couple have committed to running in six world major marathons to raise as much money as they can for charities close to their hearts.
Running couple, Andrew and Stephanie, decided to run the six Abbott World Marathon Majors – Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City – as it brings them “a great sense of achievement”.
Andrew and Stephanie have completed two of the six marathons so far and are raising money for the British Heart Foundation and Bookmark, a charity that provides thousands of books and volunteer readers for underpriveleged children across the UK.
Stephanie who trains every day, chose to raise money for the British Heart Foundation because she feels “it’s a great cause”, and Andrew decided to raise money for Bookmark because it is a “relatively new charity” so he wanted to make a “real difference”.
The couple has previously run the London Marathon and Virtual London Marathon, raising more than £100,000 for The North London Hospice and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The pair decided to start running during the pandemic as they thought it was a good way to explore Radlett.
Andrew said: “I got to explore rural Hertfordshire. It’s nice to go out and enjoy the countryside.”
