St Lawrence Church in Abbots Langley is hosting its second-ever Christmas Wreath Festival on the weekend of December 14 and 15.
The festival encourages local schools, organisations, businesses and individuals to create their own wreath to be displayed in the church in the lead-up to Christmas. The festival will be open from 10.30am to 4pm on the Saturday and from 12pm to 4pm on the Sunday.
People will be asked to write down their favourite wreath as they wander around the church. Last year, Abbots Langley Library’s wreath was crowned visitors’ favourite.
Whilst the event is free, all the money raised by donations will go towards the maintenance and upkeep of the church. Hot drinks and mince pies will also be served.
A spokesperson for St Lawrence Church said: “Our aim is to bring people into our beautiful and ancient village church to see and enjoy the wonderful wreath creations from all the various organisations in our community.
“We held the Wreath Festival for the first time last year and it was a great success. There were wreaths on display of all shapes and sizes. It was an amazing sight and the church looked absolutely beautiful.”
Last year’s event saw local primary schools enter the children’s category along with the Rainbows, Cubs and several other children’s organisations. More than 15 village and church organisations were represented alongside businesses and individuals.
The church is hoping to exceed the total of 35 wreaths which were on display last year.
