Two talented boxers won gold in their respective weight categories at the National Schoolboy Finals earlier this month.
Bushey Amateur Boxing Club’s Vincent Braniff, from Watford, and Alfie Slavin, fought well in two challenging and demanding contests and showed their worth in both bouts.
Vincent, 11, and Alfie, 13, made the club and their families very proud with their performances at the finals which were held at Feltham Sports College on the weekend of February 8.
Mick Shinkwin, head coach at Bushey ABC, said: “Both boys won their respective weight categories with Vincent taking the Class 1 40kg title and Alfie winning in the 34kg Class 2. Both fights were two very hard fought, very skilful contests making their club, friends, families, schools and their local communities very proud great achievement.”
CLARRIFICATION: In last month’s issue of BusheyNews, a story, which was written by a freelance court reporter, reported that a promising boxer associated to Bushey Amateur Boxing Club was spared jail for his involvement in County Lines drug gang.
This however was not the case and the club have made it clear that the man in question, Kian May, has no affiliation to the club.
We have clarified this is the March issue of BusheyNews.
