A teenager who graduated from The Gerrards Cross C.E. School in 2018 has signed her first professional contract for Arsenal.
Katie Reid, 18, made her first team debut for the club this year, securing a handful of appearances in the Barclays Women’s Super League and UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The talented teenager centre-back made her debut for Arsenal in April, helping to secure a 5-0 victory over Bristol City.
More recently, Katie started and played the full 90 minutes of the London club’s game against Washington Spirit during the pre-season tour.
Last season, Katie developed further as a player while on loan at Championship club Watford as part of a dual-registration agreement.
She has also gained plenty of international experience as captain for the Under 17 European Championship last year, helping to get the team to the semi-finals.
Katie shared: “I’m so proud to be putting pen to paper on a professional contract at a club that means so much to me. Ever since I was a kid and first started playing football, this is what I always aspired to, so it means the world.”
Arsenal director of women’s football Clare Wheatley said: “Katie has worked hard to get to this point and we know she will continue to invest all her efforts into her future progression and development with us.”
