A Radlett dad spent hours per week drawing The Simpsons characters on his driveway to keep his kids’ spirits up during lockdown.
Bradley Mitchell, 55, spent roughly half an hour a day drawing the cartoon characters on his drive in Oakridge Avenue for the first three weeks of lockdown, before three days of rain washed them away.
Bradley, who works in financial services, said: “I had to have my gallbladder removed just before lockdown started, so when lockdown began it was a bit of a low moment for us. My nine-year-old boy is a particularly big fan of The Simpsons, so when I came up with this idea, he was very enthusiastic about it and my 13-year-old daughter enjoyed it as well.
“It started simply as a way of cheering them up, but I also got real pleasure from kids and parents walking past – they said I really brightened up their day. I also started getting requests from friends of mine on which characters to do next. I haven’t drawn anything since my O-Levels, so the feedback was great.”
By the time the rain washed the drawings away, Bradley barely had any room left on the drive.
