A man has been left furious after a Ruislip holiday company has allegedly yet to refund him £4,000 following chaos with his travel arrangements.
Stratford-upon-Avon resident Billy Gill and his wife Caroline were hoping to spend the festive period in Zanzibar, where Billy grew up. But their dream holiday soon turned into a nightmare.
The couple booked the trip with Ruislip-based Dream Holidays, who arranged flights with Ethiopian Airlines going from Heathrow.
Billy said: “Two hours before I was set to go, I got a call from them saying that the airline had cancelled my wife’s ticket, but that they could get a flight for the next day.”
The pair received screenshots of two new tickets, now with Qatar Airways. The following day, they were told the flight had once again been cancelled, but that a new one had been arranged.
After travelling to Heathrow, Billy and Caroline went to the airline’s check-in desk, where they were met with a nasty surprise.
Billy explained: “The staff at Qatar Airways told me that my wife’s ticket hadn’t been issued, with the ticket instead being for another person entirely.”
With their plans in tatters, Billy and his wife had no choice but to return home. They have been trying to get a refund of the £4,000 they paid for the trip, but despite Dream Holidays’ assurances, the couple say they have yet to receive any money.
Billy added: “The company said they would give us a £4,000 compensation pack but have now told me it is in limbo. When I spoke to my bank, they said there’s no guarantee of getting this money back.
“I now want to make these scammers realise that they can’t do this to people, and protect others from them.”
