Woman gives a little love back to St Albans community

Published on: 27th February 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

A local business woman is giving love back to the community by spreading glass made hearts across the area for people to find.

Alex Hamilton-Bray began her HeART Abandonment on Saturday, February 16, after missing Valentine’s Day with her husband, Gavin, as she was away.

Alex was also inspired to join the art abandonment movement by the global phenomenal where artists abandon anything from large mixed media canvases to painted rocks in public spaces for people to find.

Alex who runs a glass fused business in St Albans, said: “I’m just sharing a little love in and around St Albans for the community to receive their glass hearts. Residents, through social media, can search around St Albans and try to find a heart.

“Each art piece is individually designed and crafted in St Albans, all the glass I make my own. Each glass heart is a different colour and we place them around St Albans for people to find.

“The reaction has been amazing, we’ve had so many people got in contact with us and we’ve had so many requests.

“I think people are enjoying getting out and about and having a reason to do so.”

The campaign isn’t stopping there; Alex has already got plans for different themed designs for St Patrick’s Day, mother’s day and Easter.

For more information, visit www.heartwoodglass.com or alternatively you can keep up to date on their next art abandonments through their Facebook or Instagram page, Heartwood Glass.

She added: “I’m sure everyone can do with a little extra unexpected sharing of love, joy and happiness.”
