Wolves edge ahead of Watford in race for Europa League spot

Published on: 27th April 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Watford FC

Wolves moved ahead of Watford in the race for a Europa League spot this afternoon as Nuno Esperito Santo’s side edged the battle of the FA Cup semi-finalists at Vicarage Road.

In-form Andre Gray put Watford back on level terms at the start of the second half after Raul Jimenez put the visitors ahead but a howler from Ben Foster handed Wolves three points.

After the Watford stopper misjudged Ruben Neves’ ball into the Watford box, Diego Jota headed into the empty net.

After the match, fans took to social media to express their frustration.

James Braxton twitted: “Everything about that performance was flat. A great season but hard not to feel gutted with the result. On to the cup final. #watfordfc #WATWOL

Fellow fan Si White is still confident Watford will be in Europe next season.

He tweeted: “While disappointing that we are probably aren’t going to finish as high as hoped, this season is all about the Cup Final. Totally natural our league form has dropped off ahead of it. Pointless going to Wembley if we don’t believe we can win and get Europe by right!”
