Hertfordshire Police are appealing for information and witnesses following an assault which took place near Waterfields Recreation Ground on Wednesday, August 6 .
Police were called just before 2am by the ambulance service to reports that a man had been assaulted on steps leading down the canal from Beechen Grove.
The man in his 40s was approached by several people before he suffered wounds to his leg, believed to have been caused by a sharp object.
He was then taken to hospital for treatment and was discharged a short time after.
