Croxley residents will be delighted to hear that the Beryl bike scheme will be making its way to the village.
This comes after Three Rivers District Council proposed a two-year trial to extend the bike hire scheme from Watford.
Residents will be able to download the Beryl app to find and unlock their nearest bike. The bike can then be returned to another Beryl bay once the cyclist’s journey is complete.
The cost of the scheme is estimated to be £45,000, and most of Croxley could be reached with five docking places.
Green Party councillor Narinder Sian said: “Connecting Croxley station with the business parks would be great for commuters. Cycling improvements could reduce the number of car journeys, reduce congestion, improve air quality, connect people and help build communities.”
Local campaigner Cheryl Stungo said: “One thing limiting cycling in Croxley is the lack of safe routes for cyclists on busy roads. If the trial is a success, I will campaign for improvements to make the roads safer for people walking and on cycles.”
