The Watford Phoenix Choir’s Christmas concert, which took place last month, was a resounding success and raised more than £650 for the homelessness charity New Hope.
The choir sang a variety of songs and carols to an enthusiastic audience at St Mary’s Church in Watford on December 9. The concert also included a selection of songs by the Watford Junior Phoenix Choir, directed by Phoenix Choir member Pat Baxter.
Diana Luheshi, one of the key organisers, said: “It was one of the most successful concerts the choir has performed; the church was packed out and the audience joined in brilliantly with the sing-along numbers.”
Rebecca Palmer, fundraising and communications manager for New Hope, said: “We were very pleased that such a fantastic and friendly choir was prepared to sing for us, and we are so grateful for the donation, which will help people facing homelessness in Watford this winter.”
The choir is open to all abilities and is now welcoming additional members for its spring term, which begins on January 17.
