WET WORRIES: Water leak continues to crop up despite council claims, says Northwood resident

A local resident has stated that a water leak on a Northwood road is still ongoing, despite reassurances from the council that the issue has been resolved.

Babita Singh says that there is always water collecting on the road and pavement in front of the Northwood Hills Masjid & Community Centre on Joel Street, even when there has been no rain.

Speaking to Northwood & Ruislip News, Babita said: “For anyone living near Joel Street and walking past the mosque, they will know that the water there has been collecting for years. I complained about this to the council, but still there is no sign of the problem going away.”

Though she has complained several times to the council’s Highways Team and other departments, the problem continues.

Babita is not the only one concerned about the issue. Her neighbour, Dale Hobbs, says that the leak has been an on-and-off problem since 2015, back when the mosque was Eastcote and Northwood Hills United Reformed Church.

He adds: “Water has been leaking for years. The tree has raised its roots to compensate and is lifting the wall and broke a sewer pipe.”
