Merchant Taylors’ School’s Under 18 Basketball Team secured their first win of the season last month.
The team faced Dwight School London at home on Wednesday, November 12, and were determined to secure the win after losing their first two games.
Strong defending, sharp passing and a burst of energy put them firmly into control, and they closed out the match with a convincing 53-42 win.
Johnny Oey, economics teacher and coach, said: “It was a strong team effort and a well-deserved result. Riding this momentum, we aim to secure another win in our next home game against Forest School.”
Standout performances came from Ben P scoring 23 points and Andrew E scoring 10. Advaith K and Zakariya K also played a crucial part in the team’s success, securing rebounds on both ends of the court. Ammaar J also opened his scoring account with a crucial eight points for the team.
