A school in St Albans has become co-educational after girls started in several years across the school as term began on September 6.
St Columba’s College has welcomed girls into Reception, Prep 1, Prep 2 and the Lower Sixth after announcing its move to co-education last year.
Headmaster David Buxton said: “This is a landmark day for St Columba’s College as we open our co-educational Prep School and Sixth Form. We have welcomed more than 20 young women into the Lower Sixth for the next stage of their educational journey.”
As part of the transition significant investments have been made into upgraded facilities such as a new Sixth Form Centre.
Mr Mootoosamy attended the college and with his wife said: “We are delighted for our daughter, Taisia, to start St Columba’s College this September 2021 – the first year the College becomes co-ed. Elvin was a former student at the College and we can be confident that Taisia will be given the support and guidance she needs to be successful.”
