After months of hard work and practice, London residents Matt Cousens and Brad Barnes placed second in the global Topgolf Tour Championship in Las Vegas. Matt, 25, and Brad, 23, colleagues at the Bushey Country Club decided to put their skills to the test after seeing the Topgolf Tour advertised at Topgolf, – Watford. Both men have been playing golf for around 12 years, with Matt now teaching as the Head PGA professional and Brad working as Golf Sales Advisor. This was Brad’s first trip Las Vegas, and an exciting second visit for Matt. The Topgolf Tour gave players the opportunity to hit microchipped golf balls at targets with varying point values on the outfield. The winning team from each regional event advanced to the Topgolf Tour Championship at Topgolf Las Vegas last October, where Team Watford proceeded to place second! Brad said, “Matt and I are both extremely proud of what we have achieved. Neither of us knew what to expect, but it’s safe to say it surpassed every expectation we had. The Topgolf team looked after us so well from start to finish, and we can’t thank them enough. We made a lot of good friends out there, and hopefully it won’t be too long till we see everyone again!” A truly valiant effort on behalf of both Brad and Matt, who were leading the way up until the final two shots! Despite missing out on the $50,000 cash prize, the men described the event as being a “resounding success”.
