Plans to demolish a convicted fraudster’s house in Kings Langley have been submitted following a Proceeds of Crime auction.
Edward Putman was convicted of fraud and jailed for nine years after ‘winning’ the £2.5million National Lottery jackpot with a forged ticket in 2019.
In October 2023, Putman’s former home on South Bend, Station Road, was seized and put up for auction under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
The site was purchased by Uxbridge-based ar18, a manufacturer of high-end furniture. Their plans could see the current buildings replaced with a warehouse, workshop, assembly areas and offices.
The company is proposing a two-storey building set into the sloping landscape. Roofs to the north and west of the site would be covered with living vegetation to support the local environment and solar panels would be installed on the south roof.
The company also shared that it has little business need for the grounds, so the application includes a species-rich landscape plan.

The plans are currently awaiting approval from Three Rivers District Council.
A spokesperson for ar18 said: “The site is in the green belt so we’ve worked hard to make the proposal the best it can be. We’re keen to hear the views of local residents and will be holding a series of engagement events in coming week.”
