Watford head coach Slavisa Jokanovic said a win was all that mattered before kick-off but he was only too happy to see not only the victory but a convincing performance as well in the 5-0 triumph over Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Hornets were on good form from the outset and could have been 2-0 up before Almen Abdi gave the visitors the lead after 15 minutes. Fulham keeper Marcus Bettinelli was shown a red card five minutes later as Troy Deeney grabbed the first of three goals for the skipper from the penalty spot. “We got the result and the performance. We started very well and we finished the game well,” explained Jokanovic. “This is a perfect night for us. November is over and we hope December will be better for us – it is important for us with so many games. “Yes, we were dominant. My team played a good game, played all together and pressed well. We made chances and kept a clean sheet which has been difficult for us. “I am very happy with today’s performance. Our supporters, I believe, enjoyed this evening. It was a good night for us but we are still a Championship side, we have much space for improvement.” Jokanovic was keen to stress that if the side play like a unit, as they did tonight, that it would give them a great platform going forward. “We must continue working as a team and have the right mentality. We are fighting all together, this team and players have quality. They showed us they can play. This gives us encouragement for the future.” The Hornets head coach has often mentioned the word ‘control’ in his interviews and although the Hornets certainly had that tonight, the Serbian wants to see it more often. “This is only tonight and it isn’t enough to do it for one night. We must do this every game. Nothing is done, we have many battles in front of us. We have to work all together – simple.” Deeney grabbed the match ball in the tunnel at full-time and Jokanovic praised his striker. Troy did a great job,” he commented. “He was injured and has improved step by step after coming back. Troy showed us what he can do.”
