A cancer charity based at Northwood’s Mount Vernon centre is calling for local residents to join them in May for a sponsored walk to raise money for medical equipment.
The 10k ‘Stepping Up for Cancer’ event can be done at any time during the month of May, independently and in a group, to raise money for the Paul Strickland Cancer Centre (PSCC).
The independent medical charity provides CT, MRI, and PET-CT scans to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of cancer and other serious diseases. The money raised by this fundraising will go towards making sure patients have the latest in scanning technology and supporting medical research into these illnesses.
Fundraiser for PSSC, Caroline Wren, explained the details of the walk: “Pease join us for this fantastic circular walk through the beautiful Chess Valley starting in picturesque Chenies village at any time of your choosing during May.
“The walk is a 10k (6.2 miles) circular walk although short cuts are indicated en route for those who prefer a shorter walk. All ages are welcome as well as children and dogs.
“To book your place, ring 01923 886315. Entry is £15 per person (under 10s go free), which includes a branded T-shirt, route instructions, and sponsorship form. Wear suitable clothing and footwear (route not suitable for pushchairs). All proceeds to charity.”
