VOLUNTEERS WANTED: 12th Watford Rainbows volunteers needed to help build girls’ confidence

Published on: 25th June 2024   |   By: Panayiota Demosthenous   |   Category: Uncategorized

The 12th Watford Rainbows unit is looking for new volunteers to support its exciting plans.

Meeting on Tuesday evenings, the group supports young girls aged five to seven to make new friends, build their confidence, have adventures, and learn new skills.

Last month, as part of their Emergency Services badge, the girls enjoyed a visit to Watford Fire Station, where they heard the siren and tried out the hose.

As one of the Rainbow leaders is a paramedic, the girls are now looking forward to her bringing an ambulance to a meeting and have been busy practising basic first aid on teddy bears.

Niamh Carmichael, a new leader-in-training, told Watfordnews: “The hour I have at Rainbows with these bubbly and inquisitive girls is a highlight of my week. It’s really fulfilling to be a part of their journeys as they learn and grow in confidence.

“At the same time, it’s given me the chance to develop my own skills, as I’ve been supported to lead the group and build my responsibilities.”

The group is calling for new volunteers. To find out more about how you can join the team, please email volunteer@girlguidinghertfordshire.org.uk
