The battle of the green and white stripes as Evergreen Ladies FC played The Evergreen Eagles in the 2nd round of the Herts & Beds league cup recently

The teams have not played each other since a preseason friendly in August 2016 so it was a big deal for both teams to win bragging rights and reach the quarter finals.

The Evergreen Ladies showed passion and determination and secured a 3-1 win. Amber Charlton scored for Evergreen Eagles however a goal from Samantha Jackson along with a brace from Natalie Maher saw Evergreen Ladies win and advance into the quarter finals. They went into the club house with their heads held high where they were greeted by their kit sponsor Steve from J&S Funeral service to buy them all a well deserved drink.

Manager Lee said: “I would like to add that myself and our coach John are so proud of the way the ladies have improved and even when we aren’t playing our best we dig in and get the result. Well done keep it going.”

The quarter finals will take place on Sunday (January 14). Evergreen Ladies FC are taking on Northwood Ladies at South Way. Elsewhere St Albans Ladies are playing Garston Ladies and Shambrook WFC are taking on Garston Ladies 2nd XI
