All Saints Church in Croxley Green recently celebrated their 150th anniversary with a virtual balloon race.
The event will start on Sunday, September 27, and marks 150 years since the laying of the foundation stone for the church which still stands today.
Janet Martin, member of the social and fundraising committee, said the church normally have a jumble sale in September but had to make other plans because of COVID-19 restrictions.
She said: “We were thinking about how we could mark the anniversary but at the moment it is a bit difficult.
“It is the 150th anniversary so it ties in really well with our aim to sell 150 balloons.”
Janet added that the event is well supported across the globe.
She said: “Some of us have bought them for relatives who live abroad which means that we can all watch the race together wherever we are.”
The balloons cost £5 each, which will go towards supporting the church after a difficult few months.
The church is also working to plan future fundraising events such as a virtual quiz on November 21 and working to ensure that Christmas services can take place safely.
