An Abbots Langley resident has been fined a total of £1,030 and disqualified from driving for 18 months after he was caught driving in Luton without a driving licence or insurance.
Duane Osler, 42, from Abbots Langley, was found guilty of the offence after he was caught driving his Audi A3 on Hatters Way in Luton on Sunday, May 5, without a licence or insurance.
Osler also failed to provide a breath test when he was asked to complete one.
Osler, who was sentenced at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 8, was fined £450 and was also ordered to pay victim services of £180 on top of the £400 court costs.
The maximum sentence for driving without insurance is an unlimited fine and disqualification from driving, according to the Gov.UK website.
Police also have the power to seize, and in some cases, destroy a vehicle which has been driven uninsured, and they can give a fixed penalty notice of £300 and add six points onto an uninsured drivers’ licence.
