Residents in Abbots Langley usually root for local nature, yet two trees made quite the impact when they came crashing down recently.
The trees fell onto the road outside Gade View Gardens play park just after midday on Friday, October 31, leaving many residents shocked. They describe hearing a “whooshing and then a smash” as the trees came tumbling down and consequently blocked the road.
A car was damaged in the incident but fortunately there were no injuries.
Police were called and attended the site where they took full control of the situation.
Speaking to ABBOTSnews, local resident Jo said: “You could tell the trees were problematic but because of the ivy hiding this, they looked green.
“In my opinion, they should have been looked at by a tree surgeon. The likelihood of the trees coming down was high as you could tell both trees were dead. I think we’re so lucky that nobody was hurt.”
