Belstone Under 7s Black pulled off a great achievement by winning the Watford Friendly League trophy tournament in St Albans.
The boys won five games 1-0 and drew the other 0-0 to claim victory. Fantastic goalkeeping ensured a clean sheet for the tournament.
This success is testament to the great progress the team has made in their first season playing matches as well as the development programme at the Belstone FC Academy.
The Saturday Seniors went out of the Aubrey Cup in at the semi-final, stage going down to eventual winner, New Salamis. This ended their last chance of silverware for this season.
Manager Steve Kightly has a major rebuilding job to do during the summer if the team are to return to former glories.
John Byrne, the club’s Under 15s manager, completed the London Marathon. Although not quite keeping pace with Mo Farah, he raised over £2,000 which will go towards improving the club’s pitches.
The club’s academy is going from strength to strength and is now preparing a team for next season at Under 7s, so anyone currently in reception or school year 1 should contact Glynne Cherrington on 07990 768152 for further information.
